When designing the Metrologic MS1690 Focus barcode scanner, the goal was to develop a new set of standards providing

The Metrologic MS1690 Focus omni-directional barcode scanner introduces features such as a depth of field that ranges from 0" to 9" for standard 0.33 mm (13 mil) barcodes, stand detection that automatically switches the handheld barcode scanner to a hands-free presentation barcode scanner once it is placed in the stand. The MS1690 barcode scanner also has an object detection sensor that instantly initiates scanning, via CodeGate, once an object is within the barcode scanners field of view.
